Randy West was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is represented by the Bruce Silverstein Gallery in New York. He began his career in 1990 and has since exhibited and been collected internationally. His Seascape series is in the Center for Creative Photography’s collection and publication Seachange and the series Pretty is represented in Gottfried Jager’s Concrete Photography. Mr. West’s Lines of Sight and Chalkboard series are included in Lyle Rexer’s Aperture publication The Edge of Vision Abstraction in Contemporary Photography”. A monograph of Bird Rabbit Snake was published in 2005. He contributed writing to The Education of a Photographer from Allworth Press and The New York Times profiled him and his New York Sky pictures in September, 2008. His photographs have been collected by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Center for Creative Photography, Tucson, The Fischer Collection, San Francisco, the Federal Reserve Fine Arts Collection in Washington DC, Aaron Siskind Foundation, New York and the Pasadena Arts Commission, among other private collections. Among West’s most recent projects is an architectural collaboration with the Venice Collaborative in California. A monograph I Never Promised You Anything will be available in the fall of 2012.
