Andrea Hoyer graduated with honors in Middle Eastern Studies/Arabic from Columbia University in NYC. From 1997 to 2006, she was based as a freelance photographer in Moscow, Russia. Her black & white series of "ReCollections" received the Leica-Oscar-Barnack Prize in 2003. "ReCollections" was published by Kehrer Verlag in 2011 and awarded a selected title in both the PDN Photo Annual 2012 and the German Photo Book Award 2013.
