Born in 1989 in New York City, Peter Baryshnikov began photographing immigrant communities in Brooklyn and Queens at a young age.  He received his B.A. from the Art Institute of Boston in 2012 where he focused on 18th century alternative photographic processes and documentary style photography.  Recently he has photographed throughout Central America documenting the lives of trash pickers in Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador.  His most recent work, “Guajeros” is a glimpse into the social and environmental consequences of Central America’s waste system.  It is Peter’s hope that his work will raise awareness and increase support for NGO’s working to improve the lives of impoverished trash pickers.
