Dillon DeWaters is an artist who works primarily in photography and video, living in Brooklyn. His work explores the manipulation of both analog and digital surfaces, and is born from exchanges – between science and fiction, ethereal and material, and amongphysical bodies within the pieces. The fantastic and non-realistic elements that are contained in the diverse surfaces of the photographic medium can create a visual suspension of disbelief. Ultimately, this is the attempt to realize the non-representational picture plane as a conduit for the possibilities contained within a universe – be it micro or macro, interior or exterior, silent or loud – from the event horizon all the way down to the cell. Herein, he seeks to prove, in part, that anything regarded as “fact” or “truth” is simply a theory dependent upon a societal agreement.
